NONCIATURE APOSTOLIQUE

EN FRANCE

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the proclamation of the dogma of the Assumption, the Holy Father is happy to be associated in prayer with the various celebrations and with the colloquium which have been organised at the Basilica of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires.

In this year of the Great Jubilee, the Pope rejoices at the ever-greater understanding of the intimate link which unites the people sanctified by the one-and-only Saviour, to Mary, who, "glorified in body and soul, ... shines as a sign of certain hope and consolation for the pilgrim people of God" (Lumen Gentium, n.68). As Mother of the Church, which she continues to cherish, she invites her children to welcome as she did the promises of God and, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to respond generously to their call to holiness in the world and in the Church. Mary revives our hope; in her, and notably in the mystery of her Assumption, we see the glory which God promises to all who answer his call.

Entrusting you to the intercession of Our Lady of Victories, the Holy Father, with a glad heart, imparts affectionately to the members of the colloquium, to the participants in the various celebrations and to the members of the Schola Cantorum Cardinal Vaughan, Kensington, his Apostolic Blessing.
