SCHOLA CANTORUM

The liturgical choir of The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, London

Latest news from the Schola

There are a busy few months ahead for the Schola with the choir, alongside its regular liturgical duties, also providing the children's chorus for operas at both the Royal Opera House (Tosca) and English National Opera (La bohème).

On the Feast of Candlemas the Schola will sing Choral Vespers on BBC Radio 3. This programme, which will be recorded at Our Lady of Victories, Kensington in January, will be broadcast at 4 pm on Wednesday 2 February. The Schola will be the first state school choir to sing for an episode of this weekly broadcast in the nearly 100 years the programme has been on air.

On Wednesday 23 March, at St James's, Spanish Place, the Schola will sing JS Bach's St John Passion, accompanied by period instrument orchestra St James' Baroque. Renowned tenor Nicholas Mulroy will sing the role of the Evangelist and Old Vaughanian Jack Comerford will sing the part of Christ. Other roles and the arias will be sung by members of the Schola. Tickets will be available from 1 February.

Further details of our events will follow and a list of complete dates can be seen on our Future Events page.
