Back in April, Malakai Bayoh spent a wonderful day recording for the new Netflix movie Maestro, which is tells the story of the life of composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. The film is directed by and stars in the lead role the American actor Bradley Cooper who was present and very involved in the recordings and was thrilled with Malakai's contribution. The music was conducted by the Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera and the Philadelphia Orchestra, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, who were, unusually for this kind of session, in the room with the singers, rather than the voices being added later. Precisely what Malakai sang cannot be revelled until the film is released but it was a major solo role and features at a significant moment in the film.
